Philippi was a place of extreme wealth where the Roman elite retired to enjoy all that Grecian society had to offer. Paul writes to remind this comfortable church that Christ's blood bought and paid for them. All the wealth that these Christians have amassed, all the comfort and control, finally able to live off the name we have
spent our life building, to retire and spend our days satisfying the desires we deprived ourselves of our whole life; now we get to do what we want to do. Can we live both these lives?

In contrast, we see that the King of all He has created and owns did not hold onto His status but served us. We are not better than our King and not better than anyone else. As a Child of God, you have no retirement to look
forward to. We have a promotion to a greater place of service to look forward to. Maybe your tired- tired of service, tired of pain, tired of the challenges designed to chip away at us and make us more like Christ. Tired of reaching out and finding fallen man. Have this mind! The Gospel.
