Ambition is good, but it must always be tempered against a worshipful contentment with Jesus. Paul has just told the Romans that his ambition is to preach Jesus where He is not named (verse 20), and yet Paul chooses to take a 1,000 mile detour from Rome and 2,000 mile detour from Spain in order to go back to Jerusalem. Why would Paul do this? The short answer is this: Paul sought after the fullness of the blessing of Christ more than he sought after the mission of the Kingdom.
