Romans 16:17-20
Mark & Avoid: The Christian’s War Will Soon End

Paul's final warning in Romans reminds us to be discerning about those who cause divisions in the church and create obstacles contrary to the teaching we've received. The Biblical command regarding these individuals: "Keep away from them." He says to AVOID them. Not engage in endless debates. Not try to win them over with clever arguments.

Just... stay away from them.

Because here's what Paul knew: some people aren't interested in unity or growth. They're interested in chaos.

God commands us to protect the unity of the church and the truth that builds up the body of Christ. Paul follows this warning with incredible hope: "The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet."

Even in the face of division, temptation, and false teaching, we're called to be "wise about what is good and innocent about what is evil." There's power in maintaining peace, and the wise person will turn away from those who hunger after controversy.

How are you practicing discernment while still extending grace in your church?
